New Affordable Health Insurance Available to Wendell Chamber Members

— The Wendell Chamber of Commerce is excited to share a new opportunity designed to help small businesses provide quality health coverage for their employees — at a more affordable cost. The NC Chamber has partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) to introduce Carolina HealthWorks, a new health insurance option built specifically for North Carolina’s small businesses, their employees, and their families.

Carolina HealthWorks will allow small businesses to join together under a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA), pooling resources to access lower costs and stronger benefits. This model helps small employers compete with larger companies when it comes to providing quality health care.

“Rising health care costs continue to challenge small businesses across our state,” said Gary Salamido, president and CEO of the NC Chamber. “Carolina HealthWorks is a commonsense solution that empowers small businesses to provide competitive benefits and support their employees’ well-being.”

Carolina Healthworks is available to North Carolina small businesses with 2–50 employees that are members of the NC Chamber or any local chamber affiliated with the NC Chamber Federation — including Wendell Chamber. Blue Cross NC will serve as the plan administrator. Enrollment opportunities will be available throughout the year.

Small businesses make up a vital part of North Carolina’s economy, with over 1 million small businesses statewide employing many people right here in Wendell. Carolina HealthWorks is a promising step toward giving these businesses the tools they need to attract and retain great employees while keeping costs manageable.
